Camping Grounds Close for Peak Season

Camping grounds in scenic Gangwon Province are being shut down to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the popular spring season. The provincial government said Monday that nine camping grounds in Jeongseon will remain closed until Sunday. One of them is a popular trailer park near the Dong River which has voided all 383 bookings with a full refund.Wonju and Chuncheon cities followed suit and decided to shut their camping grounds indefinitely. The Korea National Park Service already closed down campsites in Mt. Seorak until Sunday, while those in Mt. Chiak were closed indefinitely.The scenic Sogeumgang campsite in Mt. Odae was set to open for the season on May 1 but is likely to remain closed.
